Except, I couldn’t use my pH Meter to test it’s pH... . Why? . Because it doesn’t have a pH! ? . Without getting too complicated - pH is a measure of the hydrogen ion concentration in an aqueous solution (water).? Because there is no water in @glossier Body Hero Daily Oil Wash, there is no pH value. ? . While Body Hero Daily Oil Wash doesn’t contain water - we use it in the shower… So how does it interact with shower water and why should I care? ?? . Our skin will come into contact with water from our shower - that’s inevitable. However, WE choose which products to use to cleanse our body. ?⚠️ . Water interacts differently with an oil-based cleanser than with other types of cleansers (such as those high in alkalinity, foaming body washes, or those high in surfactants) . While cleansing, skin absorbs water - and after cleansing, your skin dries it off... evaporating the excess water by balancing with your surrounding environment/atmosphere. (Ananthapadmanabhan K.P., et al., 2005) In the case of harsh cleansers (non-oil cleansers), that water uptake/evaporation is significantly higher than with mild or oil-based cleansers. Leading to dehydration, tightness and irritation ???‍♀️. . Oil-based or mild cleansers effectively clean your skin without negatively altering the hydration and viscoelastic properties of the skin. (Ananthapadmanabhan K.P., et al., 2004) ? + AND vegetable oils in cleansers (such as those found in Body Hero Daily Oil Wash) can actually help promote barrier integrity and healthy skin! ??”
