Today... I wanna talk about community.
We’ve had sooooo many fantastic “talk backs” after performances of #AmericanSonPlay but last night the @aapolicyforum came to witness the play with #mothersofthemovement. @kimberlecrenshaw, the heroic team at @aapolicyforum along with family members of #MichelleCusseaux, #IndiaKager #KorrynGaines #ShelleyFrey and #KaylaMoore, were all in attendance. And what transpired was a powerful conversation. One of the biggest things I will carry in my heart from last night was the beautiful community of sisterhood that these women share. Their devastating losses have carved out necessary friendships because they understand each other’s pain and encourage each other’s healing. Community: allowing ourselves to live vulnerably and intimately in circles of understanding with people who see us, understand us and love us - this TOO is #selfcare. True belonging in communities of support and acceptance - RECEIVING that love in healthy ways - that TOO is #selfcare. For me the goal is not to go through this life alone, it’s to walk these paths in circles of love and truth. That, for me, is part of #selfcare. XOXOXOXOXOXOXO #SayHerName
