Did you miss last night’s incredible moon? ? This timelapse shows you the different stages of a rare lunar eclipse known as a super blood wolf moon. But what exactly is it? The event takes place when a lunar eclipse occurs at the same time as a supermoon, when the moon is full, closest to Earth in orbit and on the opposite side of Earth from the sun. Sunlight passing through Earth's atmosphere turns the moon a dramatic red color. So where does the "wolf" part come in?
