I hate this. I hate knowing that the only time I will hear your voice is on old videos, I hate that I won’t receive messages from you checking in to see how things were going, I hate that you felt like that was the only way to find peace. You were incredibly loved and respected by all of us. I am at a loss for words so instead I will share a memory that I had with John. It was back in 2015 and we were at Program Components Camp. At the end of the camp there was to be an athletes number that consisted of all of the athlete assistants. John and I decided to pair up and skate together as a “pair team” in the number. At this point I hadn’t done pairs since 2012 and thought that I would never do it again, I thought my body would have forgotten how to throw or be lifted. But you looked at me and made me believe that I could do it. When you lifted me up into the air(see video) it made me fall in love with pairs all over again. Then later that day, you gave me the confidence to try a throw triple sow, something I hadn’t done in 4 years. You looked at me and said “I’ve got you, just do your technique.” You threw me and I landed and I immediately started crying. It was this overwhelming sense of pride in myself. YOU made me feel that way, you made so many people feel this way. Fast forward to barely a year later and you were at my rink teaching Timothy and I a triple twist. Again, you gave me the courage to believe that I could do it. Because of you, I am able to look at myself and see strength. We might never know the whole story or truth but all I know is that we lost a bright light in this world, an angel. But if you feel at peace then we will all have to find peace as well. To everyone, you are loved and there is always a reason to live. If you ever need a person to talk to I am always here for you. Rest In Peace John, we will meet again one day❤️
