“biracial” “multiracial” “mixed” Growing up I didn’t really think about race much, until I got into my teenage years and started to experience different racial issues that people would put on me. As I got older I realized that being biracial was very different for each individual depending on their complexion. Most of my biracial friends looked more black and very few biracial people I’ve met in my life look more white like me. It was always hard for me to say “As a black woman I feel like etc” because although my mother is black my light bright damn near white skin made me feel like I had a bit more “privilege” ? that I never asked for. Race and colorism has always been a topic of conversation when it comes to me.
