When I was a scrawny 11 year old & my brothers Lloyd, Waymond, & the other kids would leave for basketball practice, I’d slip inside the rec hall & tinker around on the piano for hours. I knew some music from going to church with my mother & grandmother, & I remembered notes from the honky-tonk songs my neighbor Lucy Jackson played on her piano back in Chicago. I also knew about the blues from hearing the scratchy 78s on my grandmo’s Victrola, as well as at my aunt’s house down in St. Louis. I played songs I remembered such as “Down at the Bad Man’s Hall,” “The Dirty Dozens,” & “Earl Hines’ “Boogie-Woogie on the St. Louis Blues”…you name it!…& when I ran out of the ones I knew, I tried to make up my own. We all discover music in different ways, but because the piano was what pulled me out of a life as a gangster, it makes my soul SING to announce that our piano lessons (on my piano learning software @playgroundsessions) are now practiced over one MILLION times a MONTH from people all over the world. AND we've partnered up with my bro, the absolute best-of-the-best musician & artist, @harryconnickjr who is now sharing his knowledge & love of the piano with you as the newest Playground teacher. I can't think of anyone better than Harry to lead you on your ? journey. We want to share the gift of piano with all-a-y'awl & we at Playground hope U enjoy the lessons as much as we do!!...xxoo...q
