This bean-throwing ceremony is one of Japan's cultures held every year on February 3, called [Setsubun's Day].
This culture originally came from China. As evil spirits (demons) are considered to appear with the change of the seasons, it is said that beans are thrown to chase away the demons.
At Kitain Temple, beans will be thrown from around 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm on February 3.
It is said to be good luck to catch the small bags filled with beans, bring them home to throw the beans at home, and pray for the well-being of your family in the coming year.

【가와고에다이시 기타인에서 '세쓰분(節分)'을 즐기자!】
.
일본에서는 매년 2월 3일 '세쓰분의 날'에 액막이로 콩을 뿌리는 마메마키라는 문화가 있습니다.
이 문화는 원래 중국에서 전해진 것으로 계절이 바뀔 때 사기(도깨비)가 생긴다고 여겨서 그 도깨비를 쫓기 위해 콩을 뿌린다고 합니다.
기타인에서는 2월 3일 12:00~13:30 무렵에 마메마키를 합니다.
콩이 들어 있는 작은 주머니를 주워서 집에 가지고 돌아가 마메마키를 하며 1년 동안의 가내안전을 빈다고 합니다.
