BIG NEWS: Today, we joined @nygovcuomo in announcing the #TIMESUP New York Safety Agenda. The four-part initiative would eliminate New York’s outdated statute of limitations for second and third-degree rape claims, along with a number of other significant workplace protections.

Statutes of limitations—the time frame in which a perpetrator can be charged with a crime—vary from state to state. New York’s current statute of limitations for second degree and third-degree rape is five years, making it one of only three states (joining Alabama and Connecticut) with such a short time limit.
But there’s no expiration date on justice. We hope this agenda will prevent sexual harassment and assault, and also give millions of women and men the chance to pursue justice in the future.
