Here, the Kermode bear, also known as the spirit bear, takes advantage of the diversity of this ecosystem, utilizing the intertidal zone, estuaries, and rivers to the forests and mountains. Along the way, these bears give back to the wilderness as the salmon carcasses upon which they feed replenish the land with nutrients.
