So, people ask me, why a city girl like me, born and raised in the capital city of Indonesia, and has moved to the most populated city in the world, but choose to visit japan’s rural villages or areas for the weekend?

Because, Japan’s villages are really beautiful to be true. One of the examples is Ouchi Juku in Fukushima Prefecture. It’s an Edo Period village that’s deeply hidden among mountains, and to reach here I needed to have 2 hours shinkansen from Tokyo station, and 1 hour bus, all for one way. And moreover, I have to climb all the way up to the hill to see the view of the whole village

Is it all worth it? I think for me who likes to visit unique places and into history, to see the historical buildings with hundred of years history and still preserved well is a fantastic experience. Especially with the thick snow in winter that covers the houses’ roof, it’s much much more magical in real life

The best season to see it is during February when they also have the Snow Festival. But I cant come next month because I have school, hence I went here during my winter holiday. If you’re in Japan, maybe you can consider this place
