I’ve been sharing a lot of the vacation side of our trip, but it was much more than visiting a beautiful resort. Da Nang is my Mom’s hometown and where she grew up until she immigrated to the US when she was 23. In these photos is the home she grew up in, where my uncle still lives with his family and they’ve since converted the front of the house to a coffee shop. I came here when I was little and met my grandparents for the first time. Where the cop is sitting in the front, is the same spot my Grandpa would spend his days. The front room is where my Grandma laid in bed with me and even though we didn’t speak a common language, we bonded with each other. As an adult, to see where my Mom came from I appreciate her sacrifices even more and it is a physical reminder that anything is possible no matter where you came from, even the smallest town during a war. I’m so grateful that my Mom was able to come to the US because if she didn’t take that risk, I wouldn’t be here. Love you @stripesnchanel ❤️
