A father and his son from West Berlin look into East Berlin through an opening in the wall in #Berlin, #Germany, 1989.
The final months of 1989 were some of the most momentous and hope-filled since the end of the Second World War, but until it happened, we couldn't imagine that the Berlin Wall would actually fall when it did.
I was there when the celebrations were televised live worldwide, as people danced and celebrated on the hated wall.
One week later, I was in the former Czechoslovakia to photograph the massive demonstrations during what came to be called the Velvet Revolution.
