I met Sarah Solemani in 2005 walking down the street at Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She was wearing a giant fluffy hat and flyered me for her show. A play she had written and was starring in. I’d actually already spotted one of her flyers in a toilet earlier that week and shoved it in my pocket cause I thought the girl pictured (her) looked so cool. I was sick so didn’t end up seeing the show until the last night of the month, the very end of the festival and it was a dark and sexual, twisted comedy that I was amazed by. We ended up on a wild night out where i remember being totally wrong infatuated with Sarah. She was bare foot, powerful, loud, laughing, shocking, and beautiful. At one point I remember looking down at Sarah’s bare feet and I took my shoes off and pointed out in excitement that we both had the exact same large, ugly feet with chipped red nail varnish and spikey unkempt toenails. I think we slept on the floor of an office room that night ??? I lost my phone when I got back to London in the days with way less social media & I remember panicking about how I would be able to stay in touch with my exciting new friend! Thankfully she found a way to invite me to her 26th birthday party in Dalston at Dream Bags & Jaguar Shoes. We ate Mcdonalds in the early hours & sat on the street in crouch end, laughing and getting rained on. It was so cool to celebrate her writing on HBO’s Barry & to be there for Glow at the Golden Globes after parties last wknd with her sister and to reminisce on everything we’ve shared so far, the good, the bad and the ugly (feet) Photo @rubyjune The Maxwells ❤️
