What are your new year's resolutions this year? Mine is to think very long and hard before coming up with a new year's resolution! In Japan, when people have a goal they wish to reach, they buy a daruma doll, and paint in one of their eyes. When they reach their goal, they will fill in the other eye as a sign of their achievement! Lots of people in Japan buy daruma dolls on the first day of the year - not only are they associated with making resolutions, but also with luck in general ;)
