the first single from portraits is about a summer romance i had this past year overseas. i was so enamored by this boy that i found myself talking circles around him just out of sheer nervousness, worried if he felt the same towards me, worried if he’d pull away.
it wasn’t until we were in jerusalem one night, when he kissed me, that i finally shut up. i woke up the next morning and wrote the chorus.
