#JusticeForCyntoia has finally been served. Granted clemency, #CyntoiaBrown will be released from prison in August, having served 15 years for shooting a 43-year-old man in self defence when she was sold for sex at the age of 16. ⠀

While she remains on a 10-year parole, this clemency significantly alleviates the original sentence of life in prison awarded when she was tried as an adult, despite being a minor, with parole only available 51 years into her sentence. ?⠀

Congratulations to Cyntoia and all the tireless activists who put pressure on government officials to address this injustice.
