I find it hard to sit back and be still, to just calm my mind and be fully present when I’m not doing multiple things at once. Climbing has always been one of the few spaces in my life where that comes automatically. If I’m doing something that challenges me, there’s not much room for my thoughts to meander. That’s one of the reasons I love it so much; climbing forces me to be present. I would like this presence to transcend to other aspects of my life. I would like to be more present for my loved ones, for work, and for daily activities that I may try to jumble together into multitasking knots. Being present creates space for fluidity, optimal performance, introspection, and growth. A resolution of mine for 2019 is to create pockets of stillness in my schedule to just be: to reflect and to be more in-tune with myself. Going about life without an overhead direction or sense of purpose leads to a lot of clutter. I feel I have a positive attitude towards life in general and set my own goals but at times I find I’m moving too quickly through agendas and travel that I don’t take enough time to just check in with myself. I am really grateful for the support system and close network of friends and family that I adore, but I also feel like I need to be a better, more reciprocal partner in these relationships. Along the theme of New Years Resolutions, a couple of my goals for this year are to meditate and to do yoga on a more regular basis. ??‍♀️ ?? also to have more experiences like this, at the top of mountain ridges with good friends, on big adventurous missions ? @pete.hoang ? with @mikedoyleca #tbt
