12-13 years ago I went to the Galapagos and had one of those life changing moments. I was made aware of the precarious state our planet and the oceans were in. That night under the stars as I was thinking about my kids and all the other children in the world..I made a decision to document it. Initially that decision was based on fear that my kids wouldn’t see what I was seeing due to overfishing etc.... I proceeded to self fund 32 expeditions, invent lights... etc, all to try and show the Ocean to this next generation... My hope is for them to fall in LOVE with it, as people really only protect what they LOVE. Close to 2 billion sharks have been killed since then BUT there is some good news —when I dove the Galapagos 9 months ago—-12 years after my first trip there, I was pleasantly surprised to discover there were so many schools of hammerhead and whale sharks everywhere . That’s because the Galapagos and all the organizations down there that are working so hard to protect it and keep it healthy... my hats off to them-so much gratitude and respect.
