Did you know that Nordic combined, a sport which requires athletes to both #ski jump and cross-country ski, is the only Olympic sport, summer or winter, without a women’s division? International organizers hoped to have women compete at the next Winter @オリンピック, in 2022 in #Beijing. But 4 years into a plan to fast-track the sport’s growth, the schedule has been derailed, prompting questions about what sports belong in the #Olympics, and when they should be added. Nordic combined for men has been a part of the Winter Olympics since the first Games, in 1924 in Chamonix, #France. When boys in the sport became teenagers, they could start to dream of competing at a World Cup event or making it to the Olympics. Girls, however, had to start looking for something else to do. FIS, the global governing body for skiing, is working to bring skiers together to create a wave of competitors ready for the big time. The next chance to add a women’s division is 2026.
