I’d like to introduce you to Bethany Lawson, a 16 year old daughter, sister and friend. In August, Bethany became one of the over 4600 people per year, age 12-24, in the US to take their own life. She was a beautiful soul with a huge heart who, for one moment, thought the world would be a better place without her. She was wrong.
She left behind friends and family whose lives were impacted and made better by her every day. All it took was a moment of hopelessness for them to lose her. It took just a moment for her to do something that can never be undone.
Some who read this may have contemplated or even attempted suicide. If so, please take an extra moment before you act. Reach out to friends, family or even a total stranger to talk. Know that there are people whose lives are better for having you in them.
If you know someone who is hurting, reach out and really TALK to them. You don’t have to solve their problems, but just let them know they have someone to listen and to CARE. Let them know what they mean to you.
