The best gift for me is all the clips of you parents showing your kids reaction to their first drum set. So honored to be a part of this process. I know how frustrating it is (first hand) to not be able to play drums because you’re not tall enough (one gotta be like 4”9 to sit comfortable)—-which is why making the #pocketkit was so crucial (made for 4-11 yr olds) so that kids can have a “real drum set” but it’s small enough for them. Lyla’s reaction says it all. This makes it worth it.

I’ve been teaching my 6 year old drum student, Lyla, for about 9 months and she’s been faithfully practicing and slaying song after song. While she plays a kit once a week during lesson time, she hasn’t had a kit at home to practice on since her parents wanted to make sure she would stick with it and, obviously, drums aren’t the cheapest instrument!

Her parents wanted to surprise her with her first drum kit for Christmas, so I recommended the @ludwigdrumshq @クエストラブ kit. To keep the gift a surprise, her parents shipped the kit to my house where I put it all together and brought it over on Christmas Eve.

This video that her Mom @csad_123 took of her response on Christmas brought me to tears ? The sense of joy and gratitude she exudes is inexplicable. This girl has worked her tail off for months, literally practicing by airdrumming over 10 songs and never saw that she was lacking in anything. No excuses. And.shes.6. Its funny, I’m teaching her drum lessons, but her and my other students are teaching me so much.

Props to all of you parents who sacrifice time and hard earned money to put your kids in music, sports, hobbies, etc. Know that it can be absolutely life-changing for your kids - I know it was for me!
