Christmas Eve and Day in California, meant for three turned out to be just for two, thanks to some very inflexible, non refundable flight tickets and a dogged desire not to be in London for the holidays
But it’s a test for myself I almost wanted to tackle

How to handle a hotel Christmas buffet reservation when the receptionist asks if it is just myself and my toddler
How to be surrounded by mums and dads revelling in a kitscherama of Christmas at a hotel that is scented with cinnamon and has animatronic elves lining its hallways
How to REALLY hang solo with Nico on the one day of the year that is centred around engorged family gatherings and excess of togetherness
The day has nearly ended and it turns out Just.The.Two.Of.Us is more than enough
And now we’re onto Palm Springs joined by family of sorts (thank youuuuuu @yoonion @creamofgold)
The trepidation towards this one singular day, so weighed down with hopes and expectations has dissipated
