Some new reads ? Found a vintage children’s book at The Last Bookstore in downtown last night for $3. The cover caught my eye (bc duhhh, dogs). As I started flipping through the pages, the smell of the old paper brought me back to my childhood. I struggled a lot with reading as a kid. I loved books, but I had a hard time with English because I spoke Chinese at home. Being bilingual was a challenge for me and many other kids I’m sure. It was all so confusing! Anyway, as I was standing in line about to pay, a guy comes up to me and goes “I loved that book as a kid!” He caught me by surprise, so I smiled and felt a sense of embarrassment. I thought to myself “does he think I’m getting this book bc it’s my reading level?!” LOL. But I quickly reminded myself he probably only said that because he truly liked this book as a kid- most likely not doubting my reading skills, LOL. This is also a reminder for me to not feel bad if I don’t speak so eloquently or have a high reading level (which is something I grew up feeling really insecure about)! Nowadays I thank my @amazonkindle for giving me definitions right on the spot. So that helps a girl out a lot. On another note- please give me some book recommendations! I’m currently bouncing around between 5 books. But none of them are really capturing my attention ☹️ I like modern/science fiction and romance!
