For anyone caught up in the #Gatwick Drone nightmare - we’re so sorry that you’ve suffered. ?❤️ If we as a nation haven’t got a technical answer to triangulating drones - God help us. We were triangulating radio transmitters in the first and second world wars. Now we have satellites in the sky and have put a man on the moon, why we can’t deal with these drones is beyond me. ??‍♂️ It’s a scary vulnerability that our transport hubs can be broken so easily. What I will say is that it’s about time the CAA started to make examples of the people flouting the laws. And that includes instagrammers who think it’s cool to fly above the 400ft ceiling. Its not cool. It’s unbelievably stupid. And it’s no use the CAA re-publishing guidelines and rules if you don’t enforce them. People are regularly flying drones above Tower Bridge at the same height I was flying in this helicopter. You only have to look at the recent helicopter crash in Leicester to see what happens when a helicopter comes down. We publish the work of @jasonhawkes regularly, another helicopter aerial specialist photographer. There are ways to shoot these type of photos legally and professionally. But people trying to push the limits for the sake of the ‘gram are putting lives at risk and they are going to regret the day they take down a helicopter or plane taking off from any of the 3 neighbouring airports. It’s going to happen, eventually. About time CAA got a grip. ???? // #thisislondon #london #drones
