#BehindTheShot with #CanonExplorerOfLight @charlesglatzer: "Many animals are habitual, taking the same daily routes within their respective territories in search of food. Game trails are easily spotted in the snow, and upon closer scrutiny it becomes fairly easy to recognize specific animals and their direction by their respective tracks. Moreover, this part of the park is slow to traffic from midday until 3pm, it is during this period we started to cruise the river edge in search of coyotes. I always try to be as proactive as possible, determining my exposure settings and locking them in Manual Mode for the intended light prior to the subject’s arrival. In overcast conditions this could not be any easier, as the exposure remains constant for hours on end. Same Light = Same Exposure. Also, you do not need to meter off of the subject! You can meter anything in the same light as the subject, just place that value accurately on the histogram and other tonal values in the same light will be recorded accurately as well. Of course, after a quick assessment on the rear LCD and histogram you can “salt & pepper” the overall exposure to taste, making the overall image lighter or darker as necessary. Always, take an image before the decisive moment occurs simply to verify the exposure! It matters not what the subject is doing. Do not wait for that once in a lifetime opportunity to present itself only to realize after the fact your image was grossly over or under exposed! Great Light and Good Shooting" Camera: #Canon EOS-1DX Mark II Lens: EF 600mm f/4L IS II USM Aperture: f/4.5 ISO: 1600 Shutter Speed: 1/1600 sec
