There was no Twitter/Instagram
I was 21. I’d never done stand up.
I was wearing one of those strapless Terry cloth baby doll dresses and still thought wearing sunscreen on wasn’t important.
This trip back what kept hitting me was all the memories that, for so long, felt so close, now felt a hundred years away. 17 years gone is a lifetime to forget an entire lifetime. Going home, the older you get and the more you are away, affects you emotionally when you’re back. I couldn’t believe how much I had forgotten and how so many things came rushing back. Nostalgia is a very powerful experience. Everything is new but everything looks the same, I took a very weird comfort in that. ⭐️ Getting to fly back to Dallas for 24 hours while shooting this movie in Boston was so special. I rarely get to see my family and getting to be with some of them and MY HUSBAND (who has been working out here for months) was just so perfect. So proud to be from Texas and to be home for a little of “The Holidays.” Your family is the only one you’ve got, folks. Let’em drive you crazy, it’s all part of the deal.
