So I’m going to end my 48th birthday with a #selfie that doesn’t have a filter or adjustments of any kind. Shot with my phone camera and some descent light in my apartment. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good glam fashion shoot as much as the next Queen, but I think it’s important to embrace ourselves at any stage. Young. Old. Fit. Frumpy. Broken out. Radiant. It’s all amazing. Let’s celebrate ourselves with some true #selflove. Yes, my skin is more broken out than I’d normally like to share. Yes, I’ve got wrinkles around my eyes, cheeks and neck that have come to visit in the last few years (and seem to have decided to stick around). I’m also struggling a bit with the reality that our metabolism slows down with age. So I’m having to kick up my exercise and nutrition to counter the extra pounds that I’m not used to carrying. But that’s ok. I feel sexier, more powerful and energized than I ever have. My face and body continue to change and I truly feel blessed that I’m alive and can enjoy this beautiful journey. I’m just going to focus on taking care of myself and not get in its way. So happy birthday to me and fu€k anyone who tries to make women feel less attractive as they age! ?✊?
