For our monthly Artist’s Palate project, we invite a leading artist to share their favourite dish, which we construct and photograph. Katharina Grosse’s work is characterised by a fearless use of colour and mesmerising architectural interventions. In our December issue, Grosse takes us back to a meal she once enjoyed at a Venetian restaurant, where a ‘velvety’ black linguine called to mind the work of the late Italian painter Emilio Vedova. We presented Grosse’s ‘squid ink pasta’ – which she describes as ‘biting into the sea at night’ – on a sandy mound drenched in vibrant colours, akin to those found saturating the walls of @k11artfoundation, Shanghai in the artist’s solo show.
