A few words for the people responsible for this shameful day: Like most of my fellow citizens, I am saddened as I watch the news, listening to some of the people that you terrified and viewing some of the mindless destruction that you left behind. And nothing could make more clear your utter disrespect for the values that define France than your attack on the symbols of our Republic itself. Marianne, on the Arc De Triumphe, symbolizes our democracy and the modern French civilization that so many have fought so hard to establish and protect. Shame on you. We are better than this.
