The passing of a president, even one you may not have voted for, is always nostalgic. When I was younger and working in news I was invited to a White House dinner. I bought a #NicoleMiller cocktail dress. My first big fashion purchase. The dinner was beautifully appointed. I sat between Marilyn Quayle and Gary Morris who was the entertainment that night. President Bush and his wife were gracious hosts. After dinner I went over to the President and asked if he would please sign my menu. My date was mortified but I was 24 and didn't know better. I'll never forget his laugh, he said no one had asked him to sign a WH menu. He asked the marine guy who shadows him for a pen. I still have that menu framed in my Box of Special Things. #41 #georgebush RIP ?
