This week The Countess of Wessex has attended several engagements around the UK.
Last night Her Royal Highness hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the London College of Fashion’s ‘Better Lives’ initiative.
The college’s ‘Better Lives’ ethos uses fashion to tackle issues around equality, social mobility, diversity and sustainability.
As part of the programme, the college has collaborated with HM Prison Service to equip women with skills during their time in prison to aid employment or education opportunities upon release.
“To give female prisoners the chance to come out of prison with a genuine job opportunity is a wonderful thing to do,” The Countess said as Patron of the college.
The Countess was joined by members of the fashion industry, including designers Christopher Kane, BiBi Russell, Vogue Online Editor Suzy Menkes and model Felicity Hayward (photo 1). On Monday The Countess also attended the Royal Welsh Winter Fair in Powys where Her Royal Highness met young farmers making Christmas decorations and members of the agricultural academy, as well as those taking part in a Christmas Tree competition. ?
