On Thanksgiving night, a Sears store in New Hyde Park., N.Y., looked as if it was hit by a storm.⠀
⠀
But the scene wasn't the result of a crush of Black Friday bargain hunters. Rather, it's all that's left of a once-dominant business at dozens of Sears stores that are being liquidated this holiday season, following the chain's bankruptcy filing in October.⠀
⠀
Dozens of shoppers visited the store on Thanksgiving Day, but there was little left to buy. Many of the remaining products were being discounted by 75% or 80%.⠀
⠀
"I have no idea what I'm going to do now," remarked Juan Jimenez, a 53-year-old occupational therapist, who said he'd been shopping at the store for at least 20 years. "This is where I bought my daughter's first clothes when she was born."⠀
