The International Space Station is 20 years old today. The first element, the Zarya module, launched on Nov. 20, 1998 and was placed into orbit several minutes later. Zarya is pictured in December 1998 as space shuttle Endeavour approached carrying the station's second module Unity in its payload bay. The STS-88 crew with Commander Robert Cabana in charge would capture Zarya with the shuttle's robotic arm and attach it to Unity.
