I didn’t know what green bean casserole was when I came to the U.S. (I didn’t know there was such a thing as cream of mushroom in a can? Why wouldn’t you just make a mushroom gravy? ?) But over the years, I’ve learned that it’s something that reminds people of home, of spending time around the dinner table with the people they love for Thanksgiving. Here’s our version at @189byDominiqueAnsel that we’ll be cooking up for our Thanksgiving Day brunch this Thursday (11:30am-3pm): with fresh haricots verts, homemade mushroom gravy, and crispy fried shallots on top. We’ll be serving a family style feast, with roast turkey, fluffy cornbread muffins, candied yams with brûléed marshmallows, cranberry orange chutney, plus 8 different DHOP pancakes (classic buttermilk, matcha soufflé, scallion pancakes, and more), and brunch sides like Bacon “au Poivre.” Oh, and pie.
