This is so tragic and such a clear example of the bureaucratic nonsense our country puts people through in order to turn a profit on people’s pain. My dear friend Elaine’s baby cousin Miri was a perfectly healthy 29 year old visiting her family here in the states from Korea when her liver and kidney failed and she fell into a coma. She is not insured in the US and unfit to travel home, leaving her only one option: pay 1.3 MILLION DOLLARS for a transplant here or perish. Miri will have to spend her life repaying this debt to a country she doesn’t even live in and the least we can do is our best—Any amount helps. Of course there are so many causes to support at the moment, so many things we as private citizens are being asked to do because our broken government will not and I know it is a great burden to us all to constantly be asked to contribute our hard earned money to those in desperate need.
