This painting by german artist Ernst Liebermann was exhibited at the Nazi promoted exhibition ”The Great German Art Exhibition” in 1937 along with other blonde, statuesque nudes aswell as idolizing soldier portraits and landscapes. Liebermann enjoyed recognition during his lifetime but has been widely critizised in modern times for his war idolizing and sexist portrayal of women as passive and pleasing.
