This morning I went to what has become known as the "life vest graveyard" I drove only 8 mins off the main road to Eftalou , up a narrow windy dirt road that led to a dump site, now used for all the life vests, rafts, and belongings left at the nearby beaches. I had heard about this place for a long time and had anticipated it, but once I was there I sat looking at these mountains of vests; of all sizes, each one used to be filled with a body, a story, a journey, someone who left their life behind searching for something new, something better. According to the UN "An unprecedented 65.6 million people around the world have been forced from home. Among them are nearly 22.5 million refugees, over half of whom are under the age of 18." None of my photos could do justice to the magnitude of this place, crisis, or my feelings, but I still wanted to post, because people should know about this place. #educateyourself #biggestcrisisofourlifetime #helptherefugees #lesvos
