There are just 2 more days until the Final Showdown begins at this year’s Kennards Hire @rallyaustralia Australia! Who will be crowned World Champion in Coffs Harbour? Thierry Neuvill, Sébastien Ogier or Ott Tänak? We’re not sure but we know we’re not going to miss it! Come visit us at the Raleigh Raceway on Saturday and Wedding Bells on Sunday. Never photographed a Rally before? Here’s some great tips from our very own @chrisdalton who captured this shot of Ott Tänak in action! ??Shutter Speeds: There are two ways you can shoot fast moving subjects, freezing the action or panning: If freezing the action look to shoot at around 1/1000th Sec. You can do this by putting the camera into “S” or Shutter Priority and changing the shutter speed to 1/1000th of a second. If conditions are too dark you will need to reduce the shutter speed and perhaps increase the ISO of the camera. Some Nikon DSLR’s like the D7500 also feature a “SCENE” mode, here you will find a “SPORTS” mode. The Nikon DSLR’s will freeze the motion of fast moving subjects in this mode. Panning is a great way to show movement in a scene. As you pan the camera in the same direction and at the same speed as your moving subject allows the subject to remain sharp and have a blurry background. The background is not the only part of the shot that’s blurred. Often you will have elements like dirt and/or water coming away from a Rally car. The slower shutter speeds accentuate this movement. For more tips on how to get the shot and to try the latest Nikon gear, visit Chris and the team at the Nikon Experience Zones. Just look for the Nikon signage.
