Thank you to my dear uncle Arliss for serving as a Marine in Vietnam. He passed away in September... too soon for all of us who loved him. He was quite a character. My uncle was a brilliant writer, straight forward, courageous, vulnerable, loving, funny and wicked smart. He loved music and would still hand write letters the old fashion way (his penmanship was beautiful). He was barely 18 when he left for Vietnam. My uncle never recovered from that war. He struggled the rest of his life from PTSD and physical ailments from being shot multiple times. All of this trauma took its toll on his body and soul. That is why he died so young at 69. He is one of many here in this country and around the world who deal with the daily onslaught of trauma from wars. Isn’t it time we stop killing each other over land, religion, money, oil, politics and prejudices? Isn’t life hard enough? May all those fighting wars or innocent victims find peace and comfort. #veteransday #peace
