I had the privilege of discussing the power of First Lady fashion with Michelle Obama for ELLE's December issue. "I understood the power of what I wore," she told me. "I needed to make choices to give people a platform to show their work, to create more diversity, to highlight women as much as I could. And I worked with designers that I thought were kind people. I listened behind the scenes. How did they treat their staff? How did they treat my staff? All of that goes into the clothes you wear. I want to carry positivity. So all of that mattered."
