I know that today we push actresses to express themselves on Instagram, some are even picked, it seems, depending on their number of followers. I understand that it’s generational and for some it is not only a promotional tool but also a business asset or even a livelihood. Still. All this narcissism disturbs me. I am not attracted to these people that I see with their faces stuck to their smartphones photographing themselves or talking to themselves. It seems to me that sometimes I forget myself too much. Like Vanessa Ives, my character in Penny Dreadful, I scarcely look at myself in mirrors. Not enough, probably. Maybe I should talk to a shrink? But I am not in therapy.”
