My father, age 23. 2nd from left. Top Row. 457th Bomb Group. Glatton, England. Survived being shot down over France on his 26th and last mission. He was soon after captured by German soldiers and spent the last two 2 years of the war in a German POW camp. (The Great Escape was his favorite film). He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart Award, Air Medal with 5 Oak Clusters, Presidential Unit Citation and American Theater Campaign Ribbon. Captain Irv Meyers. I miss you.
