'One of the #Atacama’s most popular attractions is a dawn excursion to the atmospheric El Tatio Geysers (the largest geo-thermal field in the Southern Hemisphere). I woke up in the dark of night to embark on a two-hour drive north of the dusty-pink adobe town San Pedro de Atacama. It’s freezing cold and the geysers are situated at a dizzying 4,200m above sea level. The heat from the gurgling geysers hits the crisp morning air, creating an ethereal mist that looms across the landscape, illuminated by the sun’s first rays.
