But they garnered even greater notoriety after their unapologetic pursuit of material excess backfired, exploding into a messy international scandal involving one of the world’s richest men, a salacious gossip website and stints in Nigerian and Italian custody. “After all we’ve been through,” said Jyoti. “I’m tired of male attention.” The sisters, who had converted a bedroom into a large walk-in closet resembling a luxury boutique, showcased the pricey spoils of their dating careers. Did they pay for any of this stuff? “Not really, no,” said Jyoti. Her sister was similarly adamant. “The only time I go shopping is when someone gives me their credit card,” she said.
