The living and the fallen. The #MohaveDesert is a place where life is hard and water is a scarce. #JoshuaTree’s are the biggest of the flora found in this rugged landscape, an iconic symbol of the region that is increasingly being threatened as heat index continues to rise. Coupled with California’s drought, J Tree’s and Mohave yucca’s are increasingly in danger of dying off. An estimated 90% of j trees in the park could be gone by the year 2100 if this heat and drought trend continues, a sad and terrifying prospect. Photographed #onassignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック
