Q: ‘With garments already going round the world on Instagram months before they arrive in boutiques, do you think social media have eroded the mystery of fashion?’
A: ‘I still love the idea of finding things out directly, but when you’re bombarded by so many images, you don’t really think about it – you just click the like button and move on to something else. In a sense this gives us designers a more relaxed attitude towards fashion. Everything becomes more light-hearted: “Like it or don’t. Next!” In fact, in my latest collections I’ve introduced the concept of “dress in haste”, which also means mixing things without too much thought. You create looks as if they were happy accidents.
