1869-The first national suffrage organizations were established.

1919-Congress passes the 19th amendment guaranteeing women the right to vote.

1920-The amendment is ratified and women all across the country are finally able to vote in their first presidential election.

Women were not allowed to vote in the USA for more than 143 years.
It took 50 years of protests, marches, and organizing for that fundamental human right to be guaranteed to us by congress.

These women who made that possible were met with obstacles at every turn.

Many politicians didn't want women voting.
Many men didn't want women voting.
And perhaps what is most disheartening of all is that many women didn't want women voting.

The year 2020 marks 100 years of women voting in elections. Tomorrow, November 6 2018 marks 98.

Thank you ladies for my right to vote.
