There’s something magical about this city. You get it if you’ve been here. Every person I talk to has a story and wants to share it with me. I’ve had probably 20 Uber drivers this week and I get into the deepest convos with each and every one of them. One man was a nurse until Katrina hit and retired after and drives now. He told me about how he tried to evacuate the whole hospital before it was too late. He points out all the spots that are rebuilt New Orleans and ones that survived the devastation. Later today I had a driver who is mainly a realtor and has his realtor card pasted on the side of his truck. He made a special drive through the most gorgeous and classically NOLA houses in the garden district pointing out the architecture and history. Had another who drives only on Sundays to provide for his kids in the Bywater and clocks out before 7 to avoid drunk tourists. Each person has been so special and has given me insight into the human experience especially their stories after Katrina. We’re all just tryin to survive and I’m reminded of the sheer resilience of the people of New Orleans. Thanks for always hosting me with kindness you magical place. ✨? #nola
