Because the most memorable parts of my childhood were emotionally and physically draining, I always shied away from smiling. For me it was much easier to keep everything inside and try to mask the pain.
I soon realized that keeping my emotions at bay would make those emotions proliferate and gain even more power over my existence. I didn’t want to exists, I wanted to LIVE!
l am not shameful to say that after years of therapy and being brave enough to tell my story -and write my book, I find it much easier to smile. I didn’t feel like hiding from the real me anymore. I say all that to
say, it’s ok to reveal the real you too. Not every day is easy but the goal is to be “Better Every Day” so that it’s “easiER”! So find a reason to smile and share it with the world. Besides, it’s the universal language and most people will listen to a smile!
