In the 70's, Kwame Brathwaite was one of the top concert photographers, shaping the images of such public figures as Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley and Muhammad Ali. As a key participant of the second-wave Harlem Renaissance, Brathwaite documented his prominent African-American contemporaries enjoying international fame, while also producing empowering images of everyday people who embraced their own cultural heritage.
